Sustain shortlisted for Investors in People Award.

Sustain UK has trumped hundreds of similar sized UK employers to be shortlisted for an Investors in People Award 2023.

We are one of ten employers shortlisted in the Employer of the Year Gold (2-49) category after being re-accredited as a Gold standard employer by Investors in People.

Over 50,000 organisations are accredited by Investors in People worldwide, but only 17 percent achieve a Gold standard, in recognition of a clear commitment to the people who make up the organisation.

The Investors in People assessors found high levels of trust and productive working relationships between Sustain staff and management, reporting that Sustain had achieved an above average benchmark score that ‘compared very well with the sector and with other organisations that have taken the IIP survey.’

An Investors in People survey of Sustain UK’s staff also found that the organisation ‘continues to outperform the sector on all nine indicators of the standard.’

We offer Wellness Action Plans to every member of staff, so that managers can better understand individual needs and support colleagues’ mental health as needed.

In the last financial year, we reported no sick days and staff turnover currently stands at 5.94%, compared to a UK average of 17.1%. We also responded to the cost-of-living crisis in 2022 and made a £2,000 additional payment to each employee and awarded pay rises in April 2023.

Ian MacGregor, CEO of Sustain UK said: “We’re delighted to be one of the highest-ranking Investors in People employers in the UK in our category.

“Our teams work hard to support each other and deliver high levels of support to our tenants, and this shortlisting, on top of our Investors in People Gold standard, validates this commitment.

“Staff wellbeing has been a priority since the Covid lockdowns when we recognised the need to support the health and wellness of team members working remotely.

“We have introduced a number of initiatives, including a split lunch system so that everyone can take a full break in the middle of the day, and we continue to invest in training to help people confidently meet the requirements of their roles and develop their skills at Sustain.”

The annual business and HR awards, which celebrate employers that achieve the highest standards in people management, wellbeing, apprenticeships, and individual success, will be held on 14th November.
